Brandon is an unincorporated community in Hillsborough County, Florida. The population is 103,483 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Tampa–St. Petersburg–Clearwater, FL Metropolitan Statistical Area. The city has a population of 114,626 as of the 2020 census.

The area is located on Tampa Bay and is surrounded by many major employers, including the University of South Florida and JP Morgan Chase. It is also home to the Brandon Balloon Classic, which attracts 50 hot air balloons from across the country each year. Brandon is also close to Busch Gardens Tampa Bay, which is an African and world-themed theme park for children and adults.

Brandon is a fast-growing suburb east of Downtown Tampa. It is accessed via Interstate 75 and is within commuting distance of major employers in Tampa and Lakeland. The area grew rapidly after the Second World War, with Brandon’s population reaching 8,000 by the early 1960s. This population increase was due to the growing number of new families. Hopewell Road, which was then a four-lane road, was paved with asphalt and became State Road 60. The town saw the construction of its first public library, as well as Brooker Elementary School and the Brandon Swim and Tennis Club.
