The Alligator & Wildlife Discovery Center has been established to educate visitors about Florida’s native reptiles and amphibians, and to provide an opportunity to observe these animals in their natural environment. The Center is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) and is supported through admission fees, grants, donations, and special events. It is operated by the Big Cypress Native Reptile and Amphibian Preservation, Inc., a tax-exempt non-profit organization. The Center’s facilities were built upon a privately owned 5.9 acre preserve which was acquired by the Center in 1998.
